Ambasadorët e Francës, Italisë, Gjermanisë, Norvegjisë, ShBA-së dhe Britanisë së Madhe kanë dalë me një komunikatë të përbashkët për ndërhyrjen ushtarake të NATO-s, më 24 mars 1999.
Sipas tyre ky operacion sipas tyre u zhvilluar për ta detyruar Slobodan Millosheviqin, për ta ndalur abuzimin ndaj popullatës në Kosovë.
Deklaratë e plotë e përbashkët e ambasadorëve të Francës, Italisë, Gjermanisë, Norvegjisë, SHBA-së dhe Britanisë së Madhe
24 Mars 1999 ka filluar një ndërhyrje ushtarake që askush nuk e dëshironte: Operacioni Forcat Aleate është krijuar për të detyruar Slobodan Millosheviqin, atëherë President i Republikës Federale të Jugosllavisë, të ndalojë abuzimin e popullatës civile në Kosovë, për të parandaluar një katastrofë humanitare dhe të lejojë kthimin e refugjatëve dhe personave të zhvendosur dhe qasjen e organizatave humanitare në Kosovë.
Ky operacion ushtarak është nisur pasi janë shterur të gjitha mjetet politike dhe diplomatike për të bindur Sllobodan Millosheviqin që të pajtohet për një zgjidhje të negociuar dhe për paqen në Kosovë, në bazë të Marrëveshjes së Rambujes dhe me përmbushjen e kërkesave të Rezolutës 1199 të Këshillit të Sigurimit, miratuar brenda Kapitullit VII me mbështetjen e Rusisë.
Operacioni i Forcave Aleate nuk ishte i drejtuar kundër popullit të Serbisë dhe ndjejmë keqardhje të thellë për jetët e humbura njerëzore në Kosovë dhe në Serbi.
Sot kujtojmë dhe vajtojmë jetët e humbura të jetëve të pafajshme, por edhe mendojmë për të ardhmen tonë të përbashkët me Serbinë dhe Kosovën në familjen e popujve evropianë.
Ne mbështesim gjetjen e një zgjidhjeje për mosmarrëveshjen ndërmjet Kosovës dhe Serbisë, e cila është një çështje urgjente e sigurisë evropiane, dhe jemi të bindur se zbatimi i plotë i Marrëveshjes së Ohrit të arritur nën kujdesin dhe ndërmjetësimin e Bashkimit Evropian është rruga më e mirë përpara drejt paqen dhe stabilitetin në dobi të njerëzve që jetojnë në Serbi dhe Kosovë.
